City of Willowick

Community Cat Companions is the organization charged with providing trapping, low-cost sterilization, and ongoing education to ANY Willowick resident who wishes to provide care for cats that may have chosen your back yard as their new home.

In October 2015, Willowick City Council ratified a new ordinance supporting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) as the most humane and effective method for controlling the potential over-population of abandoned, stray, and feral cats in the city. Community Cat Companions is the humane organization charged with providing trapping, low-cost sterilization and ongoing education to ANY Willowick resident who wishes to provide care for cats that may have chosen your backyard as their new home. We are here to help! Over the years, many Willowick residents have performed TNR and have done an EXCELLENT JOB caring for their community cat colony. This is evidenced by the fact that Willowick does not have a major feral cat issue. Our job is to do our best to make sure it does not become an issue in the future.

This new ordinance -- which was a joint effort between Community Cat Companions and the city of Willowick -- completely supports you and your wonderful efforts. And, it also supports us -- Community Cat Companions -- in our ongoing efforts to promote TNR.

Many cities that have adopted TNR require residents to register with local officials. Willowick DOES NOT require this, However, the ordinance does specify that you let a humane organization - in this case, Community Cat Companions - know about your efforts. We are registered with the city to provide help to residents with TNR, education, shelter assistance and perhaps cat food should it be necessary. We do not share your names with the city. All we do is inform the city about how well TNR is working -- and we, like you, know it works! We would be happy to introduce you to people we have already assisted.
