A FREE spay and neuter program for “Trailer Cats”
Operation Snip & Tip was founded in 2021 to address the unique situation that we encounter in trailer parks throughout certain areas of our counties. We get a disproportionate number of calls from residents of trailer parks that have kittens that we trap and are ultimately placed for adoption. This situation in and of itself isn’t unusual. What is unusual is the shear number of cats that we encounter, many of which are friendly, intact and free-roaming. It has become clear to us that unless we sterilize ALL of the cats, owned and feral, we will never get these populations under control.
With the help of a small Petco Foundation grant, a grant from Caroline’s Kids Pet Rescue, and a Facebook fundraiser, we founded this program and focused initially on the trailer parks in Madison. With the help of the Western Reserve Junior Service League, we have extended this program into other communities. We reach out to the management at the parks and the residents to let them know that we will be trapping, sterilizing, and vaccinating the cats at the park at NO cost to them. Cats, and the communities where they live, benefit when we work together to control populations of stray and feral cats in an effective and humane manner.
