Pet Insurance for your cats

Orange and white cat next to an easel with 'Pet Insurance?' sign.

Pets are a part of your family. Like any other family member, they may get sick or

injured. One in three pets will need emergency medical treatment throughout their

lifetime. Most people find they may not be able to afford unexpected veterinary

expenses. This is where pet insurance comes in. It functions much like human health

insurance, offsetting the costs of unexpected veterinary care for accidents and illnesses. Pet insurance reimburses you for a percentage of veterinary expenses relating to your pet’s illness or injury, (depending on your coverage), and requires you to pay a monthly premium. It allows you to focus more on your pet’s care – rather than the cost.

Types of Pet Insurance Plans

• Accident-and-Illness: Accident-and-illness plans cover treatment for accidents and

various illnesses such as infections, chronic conditions, cancer, arthritis, diabetes,

allergies, and hereditary diseases.

• Accident-Only: Accident-only plans cover injuries sustained in accidents, from cuts

and broken bones to the consumption of foreign objects.

• Wellness: Wellness plans reimburse owners for routine and preventative care. These are usually add-on options to other plans, but are occasionally offered as a stand-alone policy.
